Nice interview with Joni Mitchell in NY Magazine. I don’t have much to say about this right off, but maybe we can get something going in comments? Personally, I’m a little disappointed that she 86’d the idea of Taylor Swift playing her in a proposed bio pic, though I guess its better that she did so without listening to Taylor’s music. As an unapologetic fan of Swift, I’m happier thinking that Mitchell made the decision based solely on the idea that she doesn’t trust a movie studio to not screw up her story.
In any case, I think this blog is better served by me using it to keep track of (and recirculate, hopefully) stuff that I want to read, or read more closely, or read again, than it is by me keeping stuff around until I figure out what to say about it. Here’s a teaser:
“All my battles were with male egos,” she says. “I’m just looking for equality, not to dominate. But I want to be able to control my vision. There are those moments when I wax feminine and I get walked on.”
And you can read the rest here. Let me know what you think.
